How much does the Name of a Community Matter?

Just read that Northwood II (the newer, gated side of Northwood) is being re-named to Northwood Estates.  I wonder how the name change will affect the values in the neighborhood.  With such a fancy name, I'm guessing the owners just got an extra 5% appreciation overnight!  8)

Has there ever been a name change in an Irvine community before?

I heard the West Irvine side with HOA was trying to get it renamed to West Irvine Ranch...

Don't think adding anything to West Irvine would make it's value go up...

Who knows? But rebranding the community name is kind of lame.

If they changed it to West Turtle Plains it might.

But to the OP, I do think the name change will help the "perception" because "Northwood" as a whole invokes the older village in Irvine. Northwood Pointe is in Northwood but the "Pointe" designator tells people that it could be a different product mix.

What were they renaming "Northwood Paseo" to? Something something Village?

Rumor has it that it will be name East Wood Village.
