I am also officially in the dog house with the wife, you guys should have seen the look on her eyes then I said I blew $299; oh, taxes,, oh, & this case & car charger...  no, I didn't tell her how much before I bought it...  RC needs to play make-up this weekend... hopefully she won't make me return it...  :(

Anybody else ever got into trouble with the wife over gadgets...?  have a good weekend folks...

Sorry to hear.  I had to save up my gadget goodwill for 3 years to get my S2 and only because my wife got the Iphone 4S around the same time.

I've been charging since I got the phone as much as I can, and as of now it's still only 65%; that is how much 4G drains... last night, the older USB cable didn't work for some reason,, maybe not strong enough... so I better use the one I got with the phone... take a look at my battery... hopefully I didn't screw anything up...

also testing out my screen-shot function... be prepared for RC phone pics!

thanks guys for feelin' me... flowers & booking a massage... let's see if that helps...

You should turn off the 4G antenna to save battery life.

Only use it when you need to... you didn't use it on your old phone.

Good morning folks... welcome back to work :-(  however, grab your coffee and here is your Monday-Mobile Nation's Brief... here is Ashley...

I do feel a bit better this morning; after the wife's massage & Saturday off, she didn't mention about returning the G-Nex, so hopefully I'm off the hook... (fingers cross)

I was able to get the home screen customized fairly to my liking and I'm starting to get a feel of the new places... really taking advantage of the folders, besides, the HUGE memory, and doing EVERYTHING at the SAME TIME, without any LAG, unlike how I used to have to manage memory and processor power, the G-Nex is everything I wanted and more...

Now the biggest complaint on the boards over the weekend is the battery, I get about 10% drain for every hour on regular conservative use; without having to scrimp on switching stuff off like GPS & 4G, so for an average work day, I do need to juice up somewhere in between.

Other than that, there are a few little things I do miss dearly, icon customizations, music player inside the notification bar, inter-changeable dock bar, customizable power-control widget, 3D-picture piles on the old gallery...

Does your Nexus have the multi-touch error? It's been reported product-wise and Googs is supposed to be fixing it.

I haven't had to use multi-touch too much... games and such, but Google maps, works just fine, and pinch to zoom...  I know there is a program out there that measure now many Multi-Touches you have... and grids them... not sure how many points ICS supports...

Uploading my entire music library to Google Music now, instead of having to move it manually all the time... taking forever, oh & now I see music controls on the Notification Bar now,,, I'm sure there is a fix to everything ADW & CM7, just have to figure out how to get it...

A Nexus tablet sounds very interesting, but I'm not going to wait 6+ months for a tablet.  I'll be getting something in the next 1 - 2 months.

AT&T has dropped its controversial $39 billion bid for Deutsche Telekom's wireless U.S. unit, bowing to regulatory opposition over the deal that would have made it the largest cellphone operator in the country.

Glad to see.  I have AT&T and would have appreciated the extra spectrum but the merger would have killed competition in the US.

With such a fast battery drain on 4G, how hot does the phone get? My old MotoDroid did get a bit toasty when it was running at full bore.

The G-Nex does get fairly warm when on a call, and using 4G data... I never really felt anything like it, maybe besides old analog cell phones; so a lot of energy is wasted with heat...

reading several posts from G-Nex boards, it's pretty below to average battery life; I guess this is the realities of 4G...

Looking at this chart, it does not bode well for the G-Nex
http://technolog.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/12/16/9500234-battery-life-is-price-you-pay-for-verizon-galaxy-nexus

However take a look at how well this G+ guy was able to make the battery last on Standby... 13 hours!!!

This is how I see it... I charge overnight, wake the robot up at 6am, light reading & getting brief on the news, feeds and such... down to about 90%

Charge the phone on the way to work, back up to 100% to start the work day...

I'll get to about 60% around lunch time, charge up a bit in the car or out in the field... Get battery back up to 80% or more...

That will last the rest of the work day until the drive home... It'll be back around 60% for the rest of the evening... until it get to sleep on the charger around 8pm...

Hey, you have to eat and so does your 4G robot, no biggie... I know the htc would last on one charge from dawn to dusk and still have 40% left, but it's not that big of a change in my usage habit...  like I said, I'll be happy with 10% drain an hour; it's fairly easy to predict usage in-between feedings...

4G phones are killing the earth.

Like I said... I would turn off the 4G antenna unless you need it.

For voice/text, 3G (or even 2G) is sufficient.

Does anyone remember when you didn't have to charge your phone every night?

Mobile Nations 2011 Year End Review

Speaking of Batteries this morning, looks like they found a Battery Bug on the Nexus S - ICS Update...  Google is suspending all updates, and it looks to be affecting G-Nex, but not much of a complaint here...
